CFL4Transit expands board

Central Floridians for Public Transit, a group we wrote about in July 2021, has expanded their board of directors to include five new members.

CFL4Transit’s vision is that “accessible, safe, reliable, healthy and sustainable public transit choices are fundamental to co-creating a thriving quality of life and shared prosperity for all Central Floridians” (CentralFloridiansForPublicTransit.org).

According to a recent press release, the new members bring a variety of diverse perspectives and backgrounds, unified in the common goal of improving transit in Greater Orlando.

Naqiy McMullen is a passionate pedestrian, long-suffering Lynx rider and avid cyclist. He cofounded Orlando YIMBY and attends Florida Atlantic University for urban planning. He hopes to make Orlando more inclusive, equitable and sustainable by improving transit service, allowing our vulnerable working-class residents to forgo the extreme financial burden of car dependency.

Hannah Gutner grew up in a car-centric suburb and looks to help realize Orlando’s potential as a more multimodal city. She hopes to improve the built environment around transit stops by advocating for more shelters and other amenities to improve the rider experience.

Sam Gallaher is a longtime advocate for multimodal transportation and more sustainable smart growth that enables transit, walking and biking. Sam cofounded Smart Growth Central Florida and can be regularly found riding around his home in the Milk District.

Anne Lott is a passionate climate act ivist who supports public transit to help combat climate change by reducing carbon emissions from cars. She previously blogged about sustainability for Ideas for Us and is a member of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, pushing for smart climate policy.

Andrew Morris is passionate about passenger rail and advocates for adopting international best practices for rail operations and technology. He cofounded Floridians for State-Funded Passenger Rail, which advocates for better intercity rail service. He wants to see SunRail converted from infrequent commuter rail to frequent seven-day service.
