Dartmouth Park is undergoing a transformation, and it’s more than just the playground renovation.

In 2019, the City of Orlando purchased the land that connects the park and Edgewater Drive. According to landscape architect Beth Gruber, those plans are in the construction drawing phase and are unrelated to the current renovations being completed to the park.

Gruber said improvements to the park’s east end include seating areas, a shade pavilion and wider sidewalks along Edgewater Drive. According to the City’s Capital Improvement Plan, $750,000 from the 2023–2024 budget will fund the park’s redesign. The City’s plan does not include an estimated total cost for the project or a timeline of how long improvements will take. Once a construction schedule is determined, officials can provide an estimate of when the project will be completed.

Meanwhile, the playground renovation is nearing completion. Equipment installation for the playground is 90% complete and although an exact reopening date has not yet been determined, renovations are set to be completed by summer.

“The next two weeks will see the final grading, concrete, rubber surfacing, and new drinking fountain being done,” Gruber said in an email. “The shelter and fitness equipment renovation will take place along with the final site clean-up and restoration starting in April.”
