Two organizations granted Law Enforcement Trust funds

Notes from City Council, April 25

At the April 25 City Council meeting, the City of Orlando approved a $14,000 disbursement from the Orlando Police Department’s Law Enforcement Trust Fund to the Mental Health Association of Central Florida and $1,000 to the Florida Missing Children’s Day Foundation.

The Orlando Police Department’s Law Enforcement Trust Fund is funded from proceeds from forfeitures and can be used for school resource officers, drug prevention programs, crime prevention and related uses, according to Orlando City Code.

A public records request by The Community Paper showed that, as of March 28, the Orlando Police Department had $297,090 in the Law Enforcement Trust Fund. Following the disbursements approved at the April 25 City Council meeting, $285,090 remains from the forfeiture-funded trust.
